hey everyone i couldent see if this question was asked yet but what it the max. rim and tire size i can put on a 78 or 79 el camino wihout having it rub or do anythig else nasty thanks

It depends on the back spacing. An 8in. rim is your best bet.

Yea...8" with 4" backspace is about as far as you can go and keep things under the fenders.

How big do you want to go? If you run a 17" or larger, it will fit up and around the control arms. I'm running a 17x9.5 with 4.75" backspacing on front and a 17x11 with 5" backspacing on the rear ( Torque Thrust II's ) on my 84 Conquista. Its close. The car is lowered with drop spindles in front (2") and will be getting a set of 1" drop springs all around. All suspension is upgraded for minimal flex ( big sway bars, graphite bushings, south side machine rear control arms). Tire size can be P275/40R17 in front and P315/35R17 in rear.

I have 17"X8" rims front and rear 4.5" backspacing with 245X45 front tires and 275X50 on the back. It is very close and I had to adjust the steering stops a little to get front tire clearance at full lock.
