Is there a way to get a remote start keyless entry for a carburated vehicle like the fuel-injected cars? Or is this a fantasy idea?

entirely possible. as long as your carb is good with cold starts.

Yes but... You will need the carb to do cold starts very well like said. But the system will try to restart a couple times. Crank times and number of tries are adjustable.

I have one on my 84 but I have TPI... One prob is finding room under the dash. I have no room with all the modules etc. It's a tight rats nest under there. Don't have all that room like newer cars do.

Keep in mind, one thing you do when you hit the throttle to start a carbureted car is your reset the choke. When you shut off the hot engine the choke is wide open, and even though as it cools the blade will close to some degree, it cannot close all the way because of the fast Idle cam which is being held by the closed throttle. When you tap the throttle, the fast idle cam can then be pulled to a higher cam setting by the spring force of the choke coil. Hence the fraise "setting the choke".
Therefore a cold engine, would be difficult and maybe impossible to start without first setting the choke. Plus you would have a hard time keeping it running as the fast idle would not be set. I would say it would at best be undependable and would likely stall if it would start.
Now you could run out first and set the choke, but what's the point. Also consider, even if the choke was set you would need to run out to the car and bump the throttle soon after starting. Carbureted cars tend to climb in idle speed as they warm up and must be bumped off fast idle, again only done by moving the throttle.
Can it be done, maybe but you would need to do some of your own engineering, like a remote solenoid that you can bump the throttle from inside.
Might be just as easy to put a TBI system on it.

THAT IS AN EXCELLENT EXPLANATION:beer:
MEvang I get the idea that you might have worked on a few carbs. LOL

Im gunna say that the remote start ur car is cool and all but it would be easy just to leave it alone. Really the remote start is for like new cars were the weather is cold so you dont have to sit there and wait for the car to warm up befor you crank the heater if you live somewere were its realy not that cold dont go threw the trouble, but if you like the remote start well then just go for it lol. there cool but with a carb I think your gunna have to do alot just like MEvang said so good luck to you bro. oh and if you do end up putting a system on post some pics or a vid so I can see what you had to do it seems like it would be very interesting and if you do it and its awsome it might help out others who are thinking about doing it themselfs.:nanawrench:

Carb would be the only issue I think you'd have. However that's what the more modern style of carbs are for. you may have to do some adjusting.
