I have a Saginaw 3 speed on the tree in my 67 camino. I picked up a Saginaw 4 speed floor shifted trans with shifter & linkage. Came out of a 79 camino with 265. My motor is a 283. My understanding is that this should be a fairly straight swap. Has anyone done this before. Issues run into? Linkage problems I may run into? What did you do to the floor other than cutting out a hole? Any special mounts on the tunnel to use? I think the driveshaft length should be the same as the 3/4 speed case was the same. Any input would be appreciated if you have done this swap. Thanks.

You can get the "HUMP" for the tunnel at Year One. It would be a simple spot weld, screw or pop rivet add on.

You should be able to find something on this page. http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/fbshopmain2.asp?input=tunnel&SM=1&SC=0

I just swapped my 3 spd saginaw with a 4 spd saginaw. It is a direct boltup. No driveshaft difference. Cut hole in tunnel and screwed down boot thru carpet. Took out old linkage. New tailshaft seal for safety. Filled with 75W90 Valvoline synthetic. The swap was easy. The feel is so nice with the floor shift vs. tree.
