If you're bored this winter you need to come to the 20th annual East Texas Auto & Cycle Show in Tyler Texas.
Proceeds go to the East Texas Crisis Center. Great cause and they even have an incentive:

If you win you could sell the prize and invest the money in your El Camino.

How many entries are anticipated for this year's event? I'm in Joshua, about 25 mile south of Fort Worth.

Hard to tell how many will come - it's usually a great turnout. You can contact Carrie Brantley at 903-579-2517 or specialevent@etcc.org to find out. I think it will be a lot but not as big as the Fort Worth or Dallas Rod & Customs Show. Sorry I can't be more specific - I'm just a messenger trying to drum up some interest.

Hey, just a note here to let you know .... we (Permian Basin Auto Club) are having a car show Feb 28, 2009. In 2008 the show had over a 100 car and cycle entries. It's an inside show so not affected by the weather. For more info you can email me at lrudd4@grandecom.net (Hope I'm not out of line putting that email in.)

Well, the show's over and I must say that there were a LOT of VERY classy cars and trucks in attendance! MOPAR & CHEV were very well represented, but the show was light on Fords. Mine was the only El Camino entered (Took 1st loser in "Late Restored" - 1968 is a "late restored"??). This was a judged event, and the judging sheets were available afterwards, as were the judges - very insightful!
Overall impression was that this is a very well run show with very good cars involved - some were hauled from miles away. The show is worth attending, even if you do not have an entry ready for next year.
