Robin “Mrapii” Cook – in Memoriam
El Camino Central and the National El Camino Owners Association mourn the passing of one of its most active members. Robin J. Cook, known by his nickname “Mrapii,” died on February 7, 2007 in Waipahu, Hawaii, at age 60, after a brief illness.
Robin joined our organization on January 29, 2004 and later became a Regional Director of NECOA. He brought with him a wealth of knowledge about the automotive industry and General Motors in particular. “Mrapii” devoted a considerable amount of time and talent to sharing that knowledge in frequent postings on El Camino Central, as well as the “G-body” and “MonteCarloSS” forums, of which he was also a member.

During his time with us, Mrapii submitted 3,652 informative, and sometimes provocative, posts on our website, making him the “Top Poster” by a very wide margin. His contributions represented almost 3% of all the postings here since we were founded, averaging 3.24 posts per day. It will take quite some time for the 2nd and 3rd runners-up to reach his impressive totals.
Mrapii is survived by his wife, Angelita and three sons: Harrison, Jonathan and Christopher. We have been unsuccessful in our attempts to reach his family to obtain some more information about this most interesting and knowledgeable gentleman, and to let them know how much he will be missed by his many Internet friends. We do hope that when we do make contact with them, we can invite them to log into ECC and read the many tributes that have been posted by our members.
So, please join us as we wish “God Speed” to Robin Mrapii Cook in his journey along the Eternal El Camino.
