This is probably a very simple question but the metal foil type sticker of the GM mark of excellence that was used on the driver side door jamb, what year did they stop using it? I ask this because my 1970 El Camino does not have one and I think it should. It is possible that over the years, the adhesive dried out and it fell off. Any idea of where it would go exactly and what year they stopped putting them on the cars?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, now that I know they were used till 1974, where were they placed on the door jamb?

Did you buy a '70 Chevelle/El Camino assembly manual? It would be in there. I have one for a '72 that shows the locations of the stickers and the mesurements of where they are to be placed. I'll have to pull out the book tonight.

Coldbastrd,
Yes we have it but we were unable to locate it as we went through every page in the book. I wish someone would have thought about making that book into sections or groupings to make it easier to locate something in it.

In mine,it's near the end grouped with all the owner manual placement and such. I'll double check it and take a pic. of the page and post it if indeed it's in there(I'm nearly certain I pasted that page while studying it). I look at parts catalogs all day for the last 14 years so I'm pretty use to the way GM does stuff  .
On my '72,if you were to mark an X on direct center of the jamb(it's on the door not the body),it's at the center on the vertical line but up a few inches from the horizontal line if that makes sence to you.

Well I went through the book and to my shagrin, they show every label but that. Here's the page that it should be on:pic. from book (http://members.aol.com/coldbastrd/book.jpg)
So since I'm so stuborn,I went out to the garage where I have a set of original used Elky doors off a '70 that I picked up for internal parts scavaging. Now sorry for the photo quality cause it's horrible as they are in the attic space and it was cold and dark  . The sticker has disinigrated off but it wrinkled the paint under it. It's just below the tire inflation label and the top right corner overlaped the screw. That's the same area my '72 has it. Hopefully someone on here with a '70 can post a better pic.

I'm guessing that there was no set measurement for it but just a general placement. You know while I was just writing that,I bet the guy with the 70 Chevelle that I posted the website to can get you are real accurate pic. and measurement off his car. And while I'm on the subject,as per your other post, the book just showed a general "sticker placement" for that shaft paint daub which looked like to be around the area that guy had his. It had no paint color noted.
