When I rev my engine when idling everything is fine, but when I let off the gas (as it is winding down) there is often a popping noise coming from around the gas tank, as best as I can tell. When it idles again the noise is gone. This usually happens when I start the Elky in the morning or when the car is generally cold.

I am thinking it might be a leak in the exhaust sytem???

Anybody ever hear of something like that?

Check to see if it might be as easy as a tail pipe bumping the frame or something else. Can sound like a popping near the fuel cell. Can be sporadic and annoying as h***. :D

some gas tanks arent ventilated properly... on some of the newer cars (not elky's.. i'm talking like 2001 2002) the gas tank pops after shutting the car off.. seems like theres a flaw in one of the designs.. doesnt seem to effect performance but it sure as h*** annoys ya...

could be this.. could be something else
