Just wondering if anyone has ever done business with this company? I have a 72 El Camino, that i've had for almost 4 1/2 years. I have always wanted to put a big block in it, since i've had it. However i'm working on a budget and want to get the most motor for my buck. I would appreciate any response to this, I would also Appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

Thank You

Sorry, never have bought a pre-built motor. But building one isn't as hard as most people think. Take a look at my website (http://home.wbcable.net/~s.schutze (http://home.wbcable.net/%7Es.schutze)).

A lot depends on whether you have the tools to put it together yourself. I bought the parts for my engine over time at Summit Racing. I bought what I could afford after saving for a month or 2, then when all the parts I needed were sitting on my shelf, I started the build. The trick is to buy what you need in stages. Don't buy the intake manifold before you have the machine work done. On a budget you want to spend the money on what you need now, not later. Building an engine is a bit more expensive than buying a pre-packaged kit. But definitely cheaper than buying a performance crate motor. All the machining work will obviously have to be sent out, but the assembly I did at home with simple hand tools and a few specialty tools. If you don't have the tools / room / time, then you either have to have someone else build it, or buy a crate motor.

There are also manuals available at auto parts stores like Autozone called "How to make HP with a Chevy BB" (they have the same books available for Chevy SB and Ford). Lots of advice on how to pick the right parts for what you expect to get out of the motor. I also picked up a Haynes manual for the vehicle my engine came out of (to get proper torque specs and clearances) and then another one for the El Camino. That saved me a lot of headaches when it came time to reconnect everything after the engine was dropped back in the car.
