Hagerty, good $ no deductable, roadside, no aprisial needed, if you can stay with gust classic ins. modified cost more, I cant get away with classic ins. for obvious reasons. ins went up $120. still a good deal

I have Grundy Worldwide, they all have similar limitations, can not be used for work, errands, etc. all the miles you want as long as it is for pleasure such as events, travel, etc. Check them out.

Blue"68", Just be sure you ask about any Mileage Limitations, Some CLASSIC INS. Companys have restrictions on the amount of miles driven per year, as well as a host of other restrictions. Be sure you ask, don't get suprised.

I have Grundy also.
If you do get a quote from them list your car value at $25k it will be cheaper. I got two quote...one for $15k and one for $25k. It was about $60 cheaper a year for the higher stated value. So I went with the $25,000 agreed value coverage. Even though I know it is worth now where near that much.

Hey thats exactly what I put 25k, I figured during my build I had accumulated 23k just in reciepts.. But my labor only 2k? :dontknow:

I think its fair to value it @ that the whole car is new.. What do you guys think?

Heads up on Grundy! Happening now, two guys a now and one is a large speed shop owner I deal with for perf parts. There cars where 2 very nice Chevells stolen with 3 others and a car hauler on the same night at the Hyatt as a wedding party exited the hotel several months ago at a Chip Fosse customs show in Atlanta.

Grundy will not pay off on either car and has accussed them of being envolved and there having to bring suite against Grundy for one 40k and one at 75k cars. Grundy even had search warrants issued for there houses and one business. There cars were the lowest value of the 5 taken.

The second thng I now about Grundy is 3 years ago a close friend was T-boned in his Camaro and it was no car I would try and fix. They had several guys look at it and all of them said total. Grundy sends out there office adjuster and they would not total the car and there value to repair was 17K below the agreed value. The other side of that is I know many others that have had minor claims and years of no problem so this is just that heads up, they play hard if you have a claim with them.

I have American National. They have classic car insurance called CHROME.

I use Hagerty on both the Elky & Chevelle. Excellent coverage, no deductible, roadside assistance, and very helpful customer service. Have not had a claim yet, so I can't give testimony to their claims service. The only limitations are that the vehicle has to be kept in a fully enclosed locked garage, it can't be used for regular transportation, and you have to have a regualr use vehicle for every licensed driver in the household. They do not specifiy mileage limits, nor do they check.

BTW, American National/ Chrome is good. My dad used to have it on his '57 Bel Air. However, he recently switched to Hagerty because the price was better.

I have American National also. A couple of years ago, I had a '69 SS/RS Camaro, all numbers matching, 4 speed, air, etc. It got stolen and stripped pretty much of anything, that was worth anything. I had a stated value of $30,000.00 on the car. Although it wasn't a necissity, I had 2 appraisals of the car, plus the agent took pictures, copies of the build sheet, etc.

They paid off within about 10 days of recovery of the remains, no questions asked, no problems at all. I also have a 70 SS Chevelle 454 with them, and have listed my '87 SS El Camino with them for $25,000.00. I don't know if I got lucky on the first go around, or if this is the way they treat all their people, but I'm satisfied as heck with them.

last year had the 66 caprice listed classic it was modified but the pics. dident show it to much $245 yr for 25k coverage, this year the 68 Elcamino is listed as modified same coverage $365 yr the rate went up when they saw the pics.
so what I am saying is list your ride as classic not modified, if your pics. dont scream modified & they all want pics.

I've had hagerty on my 74 for 2 years now. No claims yet but I'm probably their ideal customer since I don't take it out as much as I used to. I have an agreed value of 15K set and my rate this year was 295. Same limitations as above but they don't harass you. They just like to see pictures and know the car is secure. Really their requirements, other than having another car for personal use, are no different than a standard insurance policy.

Before I did the classic insurance thing with Hagerty I had it insured with American family along with my other cars. It was insured as a recreational vehicle but the insurance cost was twice as much as what I pay now. Getting claims paid was a kind of a hassle but so was any claim on anything with AMerican family.

I have JC Taylor. I've never had a claim with them, so I can't comment on their service. I have no complaints.
