Hello I did a small block to big block (396) swap. Well I know I have to change my rear end to something that is stronger like a Ford 9". Well my question is do I have to change the front end or can I leave it alone. I do not know since the 86 El Caminos were not really made with tons of horsepower and some of the parts like rear ends were not made to handle tons of power.

Big blocks are heavy! plan on front springs & shocks, with a 396ci the rear end should be OK if it is in good shape and you don't put slicks on.

Well I did add 18x10 Chip Foose Nitrous rims. I do not plan on putting slicks on it. Anyway thanks

if you loose the cast iron manifolds, intake / exhaust,(alum.heads make a big differance mabe later).
and if you like it a little lower in the front,i do...those 18s may raise it some???
did you measure it before/after...motor/wheels???

i would get a good quality set of gas shocks and a front end alignment.
have the balljoints/tierods checked then, talk to the tech.he can tell if its too far out.

the rear might be ok for a while,if the motors not too hot and its not a posi,
but youll get tird of just smokinn 1 tire.hehe:poke:
