I am plannig to start a rebuild/restoration on an dailey driver/Hot Rod/Highwaycruizer to replace SUV I am selling. Planning to acquire '85,'86, or '87. Need suggestions as to best year. Plan to do a good bit of the work myself, without computer test equipment. Ideally looking for project car that has been abandoned without eng/tran. Want finished product to have electr/wind, cruise control, man. ovrdrv, reson. econ. engine. Highway cruizer that rocks the road. Would like opinions. Like bellybutton(?), everyone has one.

Of those three I would say they are all about the same. Which ever one you can find that needs the least amount of work would be your best bet. Just look for the most rust free one that you can. Rust can eat up your budget faster than anything.

First of all lots of luck selling an SUV. I believe that if you find an EC with the transmission still in it, an 86 or 87 might have a better chance of having an overdrive. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your hunt.

THanks for all good info. HAve had 66,69,70 El. Cam. all good rides. Have to get a little civilized for wife. Would like to go 4-5spd. route, so may have to start with a real basket job. Know rust too well. Always open to new ideas.

If you can try and make it to the Super Chevy Show coming this weekend, you will meet some of the Florida members, maybe find what you are looking for. Welcome
