i have a 1978 caballero with a 350. i have a 1986 monte carlo ss 200-4r trans that i would like to change out for my 350...how much trouble am i in. i know that the 4r is longer and the mount is different...what other problems could/am i going to run into. i found a couple of really good threads in the trans-driveline topics that has lots of information. but it was not all identical to mine. any information would be helpful

I swapped a 2004r out of a Monte Carlo to my son's (serphax7) 82 Caballero. The trans mount was reversed, welded to the back side, the size of the transmission was the same just the mounting point different. The drive shaft we used was the same. It has been a few years and I don't recall doing much more to it. I'm sure you'll get more replies. Good luck. :nanawrench:

go for it bro, document everything because I will need that info. LOL I think its a great idea, I did some research myself and am also going to do the swap. From what I have gathered it is as painless as its going to get. I never heard of the mount being swapped around either might check into that a little more. Best of luck let us know of any updates..
