No that aint the name of a new porno movie it's the sound coming out of my 84's dash windshield area when I hit a bump. The noise sounds likes it is coming from the inside base of the windshield where it meets the dash panel. I can not make it stop by pressing on the dash pad so I dont think it's loose. I tried spraying some lube down the base of the windshield but id didn't help. Any ideas?

Very possible you have a bad body-frame mount at the bottom of the A-pillar. That spot gets a lot of torque and they fail pretty easily. What you hear could be a twisting and lifting of the body at that point which travels up to the winshield area. Just something for you to check before doing anything serious to the glass itself. This may not be a solution at all but its worth a try and costs nothing. If your 84 is like my 82 there is a rubber bumper at the base of the cowl by the wiper ( you have to raise the hood to see it). Sometimes this bumper gets brittle and when the hood moves a little it makes the sounds you're describing. Either change the rubber bumper or put a little Vasoline on it to see if that solves the problem.
Mine done this several years ago and it just about drove me nuts before I finally found where the noise was actually coming from.
It may not be the problem but its worth a shot.

John I think you are correct. The body mounts are probably bad. I need to do a seach and see what brands and what is involved in replacing the mounts. Thanks guys!

It may well be just the windshield itself. Mine would make that noise on COLD days only. I finally had the windshield re-glued and the noise is gone.

After reading the title I wasn't sure I wanted to open this thread or not!:laugh:
