I have a 76 elky that has a front bumper with peeling chrome so I purchased a re-chromed one. Unfortunately, the bumper they sent me has holes for a black rubber bumper protector. It is about 2 1/2 " wide and about an inch thick and goes pretty much the length of the bumper. This trim is attached to the bumper by a series of bolts which fit the holes in the bumper.

I have been unable to locate a place to purchase the black rubber trim for the bumper. Does anybody have an idea where to find this black rubber bumper trim? Even a guess would help at this point.

I think it will look nice if I can find it. However, next question. What are the alternatives if I can't get the trim?

I would appreciate any help I can get on this as I am out of options. :(

Welcome to ECC / NECOA

If you don't know your a 4th generation Elky Owner. Stop by the Member's cars section and show us your Truck would love to see it. Post it in 4th Generation.

I would suggest that you look at EC Parts or The El Camino Store to start with. If you have no luck then get back and in the mean time I"ll look around. That is a pretty common piece. Its called an "Impact Strip"

Thanks for the info Elky Pete. Incidently, really liked the pictures of your 76 - looks like a great paint job. I tried the El Camino Store and they had the impact pads only for the 78 and up versions, same results with EC Parts. I REALLY want to get an impact pad for that front bumper as I think it would look real nice. I'd also get one for the back bumper at the same time because it is not in the best of shape.

I went to fourth generation section and posted a couple of pictures of my elky. They aren't very good pictures but that's all I have right now.

I will keep you posted as to my success and all of you can keep an eye out for me, if you will.

Thanks again Elky Pete

Thanks a lot 77Sprintman. Real nice of you bud.

I'd like to know how come the 73-77 Camino seems to be the stepchild of parts dealers. You can get parts a lot easier for other year cars but not for the 73-77, or at least it seems to me that way. Maybe I'm just gun shy.

Yes you are correct about parts availabity for 73-77. On the other hand I am suprised on the lack of responce I have had to my classified ads For parts that I have for sale. Havent forgotten about you on the subject of the rub strip. Will try and get back to you this weekend. Thanks Ray

I have a set of impact stripes from my 77. I put a laguna front end on and had a custom roll pan made for the rear. If your still looking send me a line back. Do you need the bumber guards?

Thanks Elky Pete but came up dry there and also with the links on the site. It is really tough to locate these things, especially 73-77. Thanks for the info though.

Everybody keep an eye out for me please - 76 impact pads
