I am currently rebuilding my 1970 elky and I am taking the body off the frame today, but I am still debating what color I should paint it. I bought the truck two years ago and it has been white, but the original color of the truck was Forest Green. I really like the Cortez Silver and Hugger Orange, both with black SS stripes. I am also wondering what all emblems and chrome trim there was, because I am pretty sure mine had the trim that was about 1/4 of the way up from front bumper to rear bumper. But what color should I paint it, any suggestions? I would also like to make it an SS clone, any input on that too?

why dont you do a Hugger Orange base with Cortez Silver racing stripes? that would look cool and unique.

Clone it I would clone mine but I like the 2'' cawl hood better I also like the idea of a 400 small block then eventualy stroke it to a 434 :smileyb:
Hugger orange with black strips looks real nice. If it was mine I would keep it a deep shiney black with flat black stripes or some kind of blues stripes

Yeah, I'm 19 and my dad had an 1979 Elky that was dark blue and he just had to sell it when I was five. (Main reason why I got interested in El Camino in particular), But hugger orange has always been my favorite color and I have a black tonneau cover right now, so do you think Hugger Orange with black SS stripes would be nice, or Cortez silver with black SS. See I'm the only one in West Virginia with a 1970, so i wanna make myself known hahaha, its already loud right now so all I need is paint! :smileyb:
