Great picture. The last time I changed my exhaust system, I opt'd for Ball bearings ( 1/2 dozen, sae grade 8 ) and they seemed to work quite well, although it took awhile to get used to the extra noise. Being round, they seemed to roll around more and distribute the wear more evenly. Eventually they too wore a hole in the muffler, and fell out, but now with the extra noise, I still 'feel' the power is still there. So now I'm going to have to replace it all and this time I'll use one dozen #10 bearings, and a H.O. Thrush muffler and send it out and get it sprayed with fast setting Kevlar on the outside. and have the inside Ceramic coated. It should make it last longer and still give my ride that rumble I've come to love. After I overhaul the engine, I'll put in the proper 'races' for the bearings in the muffler to improve my street race performance. Does anyone know what type of grease would work best? :?

please forgive, I couldn't help myself.....

Extra Strength Muffler Bearing
Do you have an annoying rattling in your mufflers? Are they sagging a little? Don't quite sound right? That could be the symptoms of a worn muffler bearing. Allow me to introduce the KaleCo muffler bearing! It's unique iron-graphite composite with pre-grease-packed assembly provides over 200,000 miles of smooth muffler operation! It is most likely they will outlast your mufflers. Also works well on heavy duty exhaust systems. One per muffler.

As advertised at KaleCo Automotive Products (http://www.kalecoauto.com/)

TIP; You should always use a left handed adjustable wrench to adjust your new muffler bearing.

Yeah, go ahead and laugh, I installed a set of the new press fit needle bearing type and they cut my ET by almost a full second. They also give the exhaust a really great sound because I opted for the noisy type. They're made by a company called Berry Bearing and the part number is ICU812 and you can contact them at www.berrybearing.com

The only way to get any kind of benefit from your muffler bearings is to install a new radiator widget. Preferably one with two powerbands....uh oh I don't think I shoulda drank that bong water!
