Has anyone attempted to remove a 3rd gen plastic speedo lens cover from the dash? :? Is is a pain in the butt? (Non SS) I HATE the dusk that has built up on my '70 behind the plastic lens over the years. At night the dusk shows more with the lights on.

Never heard any feedback on this...just trying again. Still really want a clean dust free new looking plastic lens in my '70 dash.

Hey Dave. I have never taken the clear lens off. I am assuming your talking about the "sweep style" speedo.
I did look it up in the assembly manual and it is not very clear if it is held on by screws or some other way.

I'm sure somebody on this forum has done it before. The question is probally just scrolling off the forum???

I have an 80 but they can't be that different.
I've taken out the dash AND gauge cluster many a times (while I'm repairing my speedo) and it took about 30 min and a variety of socket sizes. Hope you have a good set of ratchet or socket drivers. Mine took SAE AND metric; argh! what a pain. maybe yours will just need SAE.

~let us know how it goes!

The gauges in my '76 Sprint have the clear lense melted with small tabs to the black plastic. I had to break the melted tabs to get the clear unit off when I put my Autometer Pro-Comp gauges in. Hope this helps.
