Hi there. I have a 1980 El Camino that I'm converting to have factory gauges and I've been able to gather everything together, I even have a Tach w/ quartz clock that works. The only problem is that the clock DOES NOT have the hour or minute hands!

Does anyone have a dead Tach/Clock that I can buy/have the needles off of? Does anyone know if there are other hands that will fit this application so that I can expand my search?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Just curious, do you what happend to the hour and minute hands? And are you sure those parts of the shaft are working and still turning? The reason I'm asking is I had a similar problem. The sweep second hand worked fine but the minute and hour didn't. It was always happy hour - 5:30.

Hey Robby,
The tach didn't come to me with the hour and minute hands, just the seconds. Call it bad ebay pics or me not paying attention. You bring up a good point. I'm not sure if the hours and minutes actually turn. The seconds definitely do. Hmmm. I could mark the axles and see. Stay tuned.

Yep. Clock works fine. I marked both barrels that the hands mount on an hour ago. Now the minute hand has moved appreciably and the hour hand has moved... well... one hour. Hands would be helpful now. If I can't track actual items down, I may try my luck with cannibalizing something like this:

Camaro Clock

or

Firebird Tach/Clock

The the hands off the Tach/Clock seem like the best candidates as they are a similar scale and cheap. Not particularly worried about the mis-matched appearance of OEM.

Thank you for your offer, ray, but my reason for asking for a dead tach/clock is so that it would be alot cheaper for just the hands. A dead tach (or dead clock for that matter) is of no use, so pulling the hands off no big deal.

Michaelj,

You've got me looking at mine again. Any idea how the cap comes off the end of the shaft? It doesn't seem to want to pull off?

Hey Rob.

The center cap is actually the seconds sweep. It is attached to a long shaft that fits down through the rotating drums of the minutes and hours. Pull straight out. Photos to come...
