While I don't have a El Camino yet, I will shortly. My Grandpa recently lost his license and he is quickly getting rid of his car collection. I picked his '77 El Camino SS.

I just have a few questions about the car and figured this would be the best site to get them answered.

1. It has all the SS decals but only a 350 under the engine. Was this an option or is this a different motor?

2. Where can I find a blue book value on the car?

Sorry about your Grampa's loss, but Welcome to the proud ranks of El Camino owners. You will find this Forum to be a repository of vast information about the 4th generation of El Caminos, along with the others. Best of luck with your future projects..........Ken

I take it you got first pick at the collection. You can use it to haul your equipment while you are practicing to be a future rock star. Welcome

Welcome rokstar, this is a great place for information on the El Camino. I don't know if your El Camino has the original engine, but my son was given a 73 ss with a 350 from his grandpa. It was the original engine.

Welcome from down under oregon-- What other old cars did he have??--I believe that by 77 you could get the SS with the 350 engine i think that started in 72 or 3--Glenn:beer:

Welcome fellow 4th gen owner. I think you had your choice on what kind of engine was put in but for the 4th gen the SS was more about the interior options than engine options, at that time they were all fuel economy and smog worried. The fuel thing was cus of toyota they had just came out to the states in the 70's maybe late 60's but for sure were booming so the big V8 dealers like chevy tried there well a 350 has power and good MPG. anyway Im bableing welcome budd.:nanawrench:

Welcome from down under oregon

Hey Glenn, I suppose it depends on your perspective of the world. Australia, it could be argued, is near the top of the world and the North Hemisphere is the one upside down? :dontknow:

What other old cars did he have??--Glenn:beer:

He's been selling them over the last few years but he had a '57 chevy, an '81 el camino SS, '68 Catalina Convertible and I think a '36 Chevy coupe.

The only 2 he had left were the 77 El Camino and the convertible.

Welcome to the site bud. Gotta suck for Gramps to see his collection go, but suppose it'll happen to us all at some point. Good luck with it.

Welcome rokstar. Nice collection Grandpa had. If I had more garage space, I would have more cars too. No such thing as too many cars.:inlove: Have fun with your "pick" if you are lucky to get it.
