I just got a Holley 750 CFM 4 barrel carb from a guy at work, and I plan on using the carb on the 383ci I'll be getting. The carb came to me with the "standard" finish for a Holley (like a flat yellowish color). My engine is almost completely chromed out. I was wondering if it is worth trying to plate the carb I got or should I just try to sell this one and get a new shiny carb?

Forget trying to plate it. Plating will take all the factory tolerances out of it and it won't run.

The yellow hue will polish out, simple polish it like you would any piece of billet alum. By hand, use air die grinder with different heads, dromel. I use M-Ron purple metal polish and buffing rouges. Or buy an edlebrook endurshine carb, Holley has chrome bowles and some other parts that will still be in tolerance. Custom chroming carbs and carb stuff can be real hairy "don't", except linkages that cool.

My current edelbrock is shiny and looks great on the engine with the rest of the chrome. I know chrome don't get you home, black will get you there and back; but I do like the look of chrome.

A short while ago, Holley came back with the "silver" finish". Don't know if that would be shiny enough for you though. Both are shown in catalogs like Summit. Holley calls the silver one "tumble polished". It may look better than a dichromate (tan color) carb on your engine.
