Hi there!!!

my name is Jorge and i'm from tijuana mexico. this is my first post and my first el camino and let me tell you that i have always like classic rides. my first car at 15 was a 74 duster then i change at 19 to a 71 mach 1 but got stolen so later at 21 i got a 60 chevy biscayne and now at 26 i got a 66 el camino with a 327 engine and it was instant love. i have never drive a car so smooth i can drive it at 80 mph and the car is steady and the suspension is great i think this is the one...:inlove:

so i came here to learn more of this beautiful car and to get some help from the experts i learn in this forum that i got a 1966 el camino custom v8 2 door sedan pick up assemble in fermont,Ca. i'm staring to restore it and got a couple of questions.

first i want to paint it red so any recommendation about the type, brand and code of paint would be really appreciated i know that this year came in regal red but let me heard what you think.

second i need good ideas about the interior i'm thinking black interior because it already have it but the seat need new upholstery so let me know.

and last but not less any recommendation for the wheels. i like rally wheels 14 or 15 inch and radial tires but don't know.

any help would be really appreciated and i always like my cars as original as they can get so please don't tell me i need to get 22 inch wheels and flames in the hood because that's not my style.

thanks a lot and sorry for my bad writing but you know i'm mexican :dontknow:.

Welcome aboard Jorge. Yeah, those 66's are sweet when done up. Can't help with recs, but going original rally's always looks good. If you want a bit more bling, it's hard to go wrong with Torque Thrusts or Cragar S/S's. Enjoy your resto......

Welcome to the forum Jorge. Your writing and english is just fine, no problem with the communication. Actually it's better than some who were born here. Have fun with your mods and enjoy the site.

Welcome Jorge nice year my favorite 2nd gen year. The beauty of our classics is we can build them however we want. My suggestion to is go to opgi.com the el camino store.com and get all the original parts you need. It's always nice to see all original cars. And I'm bias to black vinal because I have it.

Isn't that the truth. First newb in a while that actually broke up his sentence, used punctuation, and didn't purposely misspell small words!

Welcome, Jorge! I am a little jealous that you are in the motherland of custom upholstery. When I lived in San Diego, I couldn't get over the quality and price of getting seats re-done. Almost worth a trip back just to get my current ones upholstered....

Welcome Jorge! Red with black interior is a great combination for that model. As for wheels, stay with nothing larger than 15" please. Post some before and after photos of your project.

Welcome onboard Jorge,
You found a great site, and always plenty of good(usually)info. Build what you like, regarless of the info you get, as you will be the one footing the bills, and driving it.
I get through San Diego occasionally. Will try to catch you on one side or the other.

Regrettably, my friends, this post was almost a year old, and his first and last posts were only 1 day apart - 4/7/2009 & 4/8/2009. Let's hope he answers these replies and gets active. He sounded like a great guy who was into El Caminos...........Ken
