I need help. I had a problem with the blower fan not working, replaced the fan , still not working, kept looking and found the coils in the blower resistor were touching and the big one burned into. I put in a new resistor and replaced the relay while I was at it. Both under $20 at Carquest. So now I have a new blower motor, relay and resistor. Fan still does nor work. I thought that it had blown a fuse since the resistor looked like it burned into.

I have been under the dash in the fuse block ,but I don't see a fuse labeled heater/fan or something simular. All the fuses I pulled looked to be ok. What about the other two shiny things, may be breakers, but plug in like fuses??

Electrcal is not my forte. I am at my limit replacing bulbs,

Anyone have a picture/diagram or the fuse block or can tell me what I am looking for. 1986 model with air.

thanks

In the first link ↓ is a Dia. of the fuse box. HTR is what it's marked as & is a 25 amp fuse.

In this link ↓ you'll see your Blower switch with the color of your wires.

Brown = to fuse (hot / + )
Yellow = Fan Low
Lt. Blue = Fan Med
Orange = Fan High

Check the Brown and see if it's hot with the key on, if not it's a bad fuse, if it is then turn the switch to high and see if the Orange is hot. If not, you will need a new switch. If it is the blower should work, or it's bad or has a bad ground. The Yellow and Lt Blue work off the resistor for Med and Low Speeds.

My 86 4.3 had a burnt connector in front of the throttle body as you stand in front of the car it is just to the left of the TB, pull it apart and take a look, I cleaned mine, replaced a spade and wa la. I found this hint elsewere Elcaminocentral and it helped me to become a member.
