Gentlemen - hi, new member and new owner of 85 - Conquista - need your help on 2
things - how do I remove the bed mold from tailgate to roof, is there some special tool
I need? Also, can you tell me the paint codes for the stock - dark grey bottoms and
roof - and silver hood and sides? thanks, Trip

Ok first you need to unscrew the 2 screws on the tailgate corner trim. Then unscrew the 2 screws near the top. now on the inside of the remaining trim near the back there may be another screw inside the bed trim that you have to unscrew to get the two corner peices off. I think once you get the top passerger side off, just by getting a screw driver and prying it off- once you do that, slid the entire bed trim up a bit to get at the screw. Its all quite simple just take your time and dont break anything ;) get a srew driver and push in the little tangs on the black plastic things holding them down.http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2724/224/88/513235537/n513235537_6190918_2844602.jpg

Not sure if his being a 85 will have those screws up by the top or going up the cab. My 79 does have those two screws you refer to but my 86 does not have them. They both do have the screws on the corner trim that is covered by the long trim pieces. I found it best to start at the center of the back glass and start working your way to the corner pieces. The long trim pieces once loose will slip off the corner trim and you can get to those hidden screws then. That is if someone has not tried to remove the corner pieces without removing the long trim first and broke them off. I have seen quite a few of the screw tabs broken for whatever reason.

I believe you also have the 12 15 color code sounds like
12 Silver (Metallic) WA 8535 PPG # 3746
15 Medium Gray (Metallic) WA 8573 PPG # 3749

If you still have the SPIL in the glove box it should have those WA #'s at the bottom after it says Enamel U is upper L is lower.

ok - the paint store said I needed those WA numbers - so that was very helpful -
but before I start prying the trim, you say it slides back a tad toward the back?
I already got the corners off, the easy part - and am just painting the bed, so don't really need to take off part around glass, unless you are say I have to start there and work down to the sides. does that long piece slide back off clips, or must it be popped
off? appreciate your advice - Trip

Should slide forward off the corner pieces. You should not have been able to get the corners off until the long piece moved forward about an 1 inch or so to access the screw tab on the corner piece.
