is anyone planning on attending the cruise this year? I just got my 86 Elky repainted and I have some things to still do to make it look nicer (alumnium, frame tonneau, pinstripping, emblems) but Im will be driving up from Il on Friday
I hope to see alot of Elkys this year.
I went a couple of years ago with my white with blue racing stripes 74 Nova since the Elky wasn't ready yet but I'm exciting to have it ready this year.
hope to see you there.

I'll be there.... been going since '05. That was the summer I bought my SSR and from the forum I belong to for that truck found out about a visit to the GM Heritage Center and an SSR factory tour. That was something I couldn't pass up. We had 34 SSRs going down I96 to Lansing. We rent a parking lot south of 11 Mile.

I plan to take the Elky this year if I can get the car weather tight by then (it leaks everywhere!) but I'll still be hanging out with my regular SSR crowd.

Last year I actually got to drive just about the entire circuit on cruise day! At 9AM, I and another SSR owner got out to Woodward at 12 Mile and headed north. Made it all the way around and headed south to our lot without much incident. After that we sat back and watched the show. Later on, a second trip north was required to get my obligatory Woodward souvenir street sign.

I'll be taking my SSR again this year. Can't seem to get the gremlins out of the Elky. Brakes aren't satisfactory and today I pulled the radiator because the trans cooling line fitting is cross threaded and was leaking. I also never got a chance to fix the leaky seals and windows.

Ya never know!

Our lot is south of 11 Mile before you get to the Zoo. Nothing but SSRs (usually around 30).

I don't think mine will make the trip to Michigan this year. Hopefully next year though. Have fun.

Mitch,
yours seemed to be in pretty good condition when I saw it, but you know your car and that is about 300 + miles away you sure don't want to have trouble on the way.

only a few more days left until the woodward dream cruise I missed last year because of a detached retina but I'm ready this year

Our group (sorry... SSR group) had a chance to cruise up and down today. I was looking for El Caminos, but saw only 3. I saw a black 2nd gen with an air brushed naked lady on the gate, a 78 for sale, and a 68. Hopefully I'll see more tomorrow.

If you happen to see this one there, ask him when he is going to come back and visit ECC!

I have lots of memories cruising Woodward. I grew up near Pontiac, and went down there every weekend in 1974/75. :inlove:700 miles away now, but it would be cool to do it again.:dontknow:

It was great. Very hot, but the weather cooperated and we had no rain.

Here are my pictures.... lots of 'em!

It's about 560 miles for me.... IT'S WORTH EVERY ONE!

Meanwhile... I don't know how I ever missed this... but here's a link on Youtube:

Cool Pictures!
Was hoping to catch a glimpse of our old friend and member Steve Frey ! Back when I first came to ECC he was really excited about this cruise being the 50 anniversary of the ElCamino and was trying to get guys together to be there this year.
But I guess his business has taken the place of the ElCamino!
Sure wish he would come back and visit time to time.
Seems a lot of the older members have just faded away the last year.:dontknow:

I'm in the Saginaw area, about 5 miles east. I'm as old as dirt, but not ready to fade away just yet:nanawrench: I'm just getting going on a '75 Elco. This is my 4th, of the 4th gen type. The only one I bought new was a "77 Classic.
My oldest son wanted to go to the Dream Cruise with his Cobra replica, but that Ford engine bent a pushrod etc, so he didn't make it. ( he likes Fords, guess he doesn't listen very good):smileyb:

i never thought to highly of the dream cruse... i think its because i grew up in macomb where the only classic cars youd see were in some ones garage waiting to be driven that one day a year!
seems just such a waste...
but if you guys get a regular event going im in
(weather i find my elco by then or not)
