Hello everyone!!! I have cruised thru the site many times but finally decided to join. My husband and I have a 59 El Camino. We purchased it 3 years ago by fate...we looked for 10 years for 1 but never found what we wanted..then 1 wrong turn down a wrong street and there she sat on the side of the road.. It was bought as our project car (even tho' the owners drove it) and we did body work and some motor work. It is in primer but needs some tranny work, brakes, interior, but I figure just get it road worthy and it will be fine. Due to losing our jobs and daughter being in college funds are really low. The car is out in the elements because we were supposed to build a garage this year (put on hold) Someone offered us $3500 for it today...tempting...we only paid $800 and put about $600 into it and it looks really good...we were figuring we could buy something that is in better shape and road worthy or not...decisions..or keep the money and pull us out of a rut...but reading all the stories about everyones cars and reading the pleasure it brings everyone I am convinced my decision is going to be keep it....Just wanted to say hi! and I will need to come back alot just for th einspiration...thanks for the read...wish us luck!!!!???!!!

Welcome to the site elvi35, you did good on that purchase. They are lots of fun, and lots of work, but the rewards are all those pleasures of driving a classic.
I was at a swap meet today in GA. and there were a couple 59s for sale, somewhere around 10 to 15k as best I recollect :-D
I hope you guys are able to keep and restore it, again welcome, it is a great site!

Very good choice. It'll be fun even when things don't go right. :D El Caminos just have their way of making anything enjoyable. Welcome!

Wow a gearhead wife!?! 8) How cool. Welcome to ECC / NECOA!
I personally think you two made a good choice the first generation El Caminos need some TLC (Usually) to get them going/looking right but are fine trucks once that is done. I won't call our bunch an elite group but we all have a passion for the El Camino.
Again welcome to you both.

Welcome to ECC/NECOA Kim & Dave!
The best of luck with your 59 project. Have patience and determination and above all don't lose sight of the vision you had when you first saw your Elky. It'll all come together in time. Many ECC members have been working on their Elky restorations for a long time.
