I am putting my elky together and I am looking to put in a new fuel tank. I have read some older forums and see that there have been problems. I found one 22 gal tank built by Sprectra from Car Parts Wholesale for $198 plus shipping. They also have a 22 gal tank by Dorman for $277 plus shipping. I don't know what the difference would but I do know you get what you pay for. I would appreciate any comments regarding brand, where to buy (or not to buy), price, and problems.
Thanks for any info

Don't know about the tanks, but Dorman is a very old company, and likely the better choice.

Installed a tank two summers ago in my 66, I believe I got it from the El Camino store, fit perfect, no problems yet!

I just purchased one from NAPA. It was about $255 plus shipping. I have not filled it up yet so I cannot comment on the vent, but I have always had good luck with NAPA (unless I purchased their cheap parts). elamott

Stay away from the ones made in China, they wont vent and it takes all day to fill up. Spectra Premium (Canada) are suppose to be close to OEM, but you may still want to add a vent hose just in case, its alot easier to do that before you install it and fill with gas. Theres info on the site for doing this.
