I would like to install a seperate killswitch on my Elky in addition to the alarm. Does anyone know of any companies that manufacture killswitches? I remember seeing how someone installed a clicker type button under the carpet just on the side of the seat and I'd like to do something similar.

Solution one: Ground (short) the power supply to the distributor through a toggle switch switch hidden near the driver's seat? Throw (close) the switch to ground the circuit and the engine will turn but not start. Throw the switch to the other position (open) and the engine will start. Cost = a little wire and a simple toggle switch and some elbow grease.

Solution two: Cut the hot wire going from the ignition switch to the starter and splice in a toggle switch. When the switch is open, the starter will not turn. However, a thief with a little knowledge could short two terminals on the starter and start the engine, so the first option is probably the best.

Both are pretty easy and cheap.

I hooked up a wire to the trigger wire on my msd box. Works good.

However you decide to do this, the important thing is to put the switch in an inconspicuous place...and let no one and I mean no one know where the switch is other than those who drive it and who you trust. For those who have an electric fuel pump, you could also wire in a toggle switch to shut the fuel off as long as your not running a mechanical fuel pump also. There's no sure theft detterent other than maybe encasing your car in a block of cement. Amateur car thieves don't want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to start your car, they'll move on to one that's simpler to take, but a professional car thief is another story, if you have something special, and he wants it, he'll get it eventually. Ever hear of a tow truck?

If you have an alarm you can always use a relay connection to the HEI +12V in. When the alarm is triggered the relay will cut power to the ignition and keep the truck from starting. Or a toggle switch will do the same thing. Use a started cut out and the HEI cut out and that will keep them from starting the truck. Nothing will prevent them from using a Suck-up truck and towing it away.

If they want it bad enough they will have it.
