86camino 02-12-2004, 07:03 PM i'm going to be painting my elky this weekend and i need some help. i'll be putting some racing stripes on it and i'm debating weater to put the stripes on the roof or do like the old ss's with the stripes on the hood and back end. At first I did only the hood, then I did the tailgate and then I did the roof and it looks finished now. Mrapii 02-13-2004, 04:26 PM If you do the stripes like a 1970 SS El Camino it would be on the hood only. But look at the 3rd Gen El Camino and the styling of the tailgate would not allow the racing stripes but the SS Chevelle did have stripes on the trunk lid. To me the design of the 5th Gen tailgate dictates the continuance of the racing stripes.
