:let_it_all_out:I just bought a 71 Elcamino and it came factory with a 350ci engine and a TH350 Transmission. But when I bought it it did not have any drive train in it. I have a 350ci motor and I have the Drive shaft, but no Transmission. From what I have read there were Three options for over all length due to the tail shafts on the transmission.I would measure the distance between the end of the drive shaft and back of the motor but due to the close differences in lengths I would not be confident in my measuring. My Question is does any one know what the total over all legnth of the TH350 That Belongs in the car should be? I have found one that is 32"long but I only want to buy it if it is the right size. I dont want to have to cut the drive shaft. Thanks for any help.

That year EC didn't use the the short tail TH350 so that would eliminate one. Best thing to do is you and somebody else crawl under your 71 and measure from the middle of the "cup" where the U joint sits to the rear of the tailshaft on the tranny. Take that measurment and take 2" off and that will be very close to the right length, measure from the center of the U joints on both ends.

I should have read closer but the long tail TH350 should have been the stock one in your EC.

Stock tailshaft length for a 71 TH350 is 6 inch. I know this because mine is setting out on a table and I just took a ruler to it.
