so i got home today and my fans were off when i shut off my car. they are supposed to work off temperature and come on at a certain temp. well it started raining with thunder and lightning and my dad gets home and says my fans are on. sure enough i go out and they are on and my car is nowhere near bein warm. we screw with it and managed to get the fans to only ocme on when the ignition is turned. any idea what would cause this? because this has never happened before. is it the lighning? the rain? i though water caused electrical to short out not cause stuff to start working. :dontknow:

I had a relay go bad on my fan set up once, fan ran all the time after that. Had to replace the relay and problem went away.

Best to just be sure that the power supply to the relay that operates the Fan / Fans is only powered when Ign is on. But I think you said you and your Dad did this. The cause most often is the temp control sw goes bad. In your case, you said it was raining, water could have gotten into that rheostat sw, then it wouldn't matter what temp it is. It will tell the fans to run. So run the power through a switched power source. Them Temp switches are real cheaply made switches.

we took some presurized air and blew the crap out of everything. let it dry and magically the fans work correctly. wierd:dontknow:
