I'm a Union Carpenter and I have been out of work for three month now. The company that I recently got layed off from may work for three weeks for me. Should find out Thursday or Friday.
I also talk to a Superintendent for another company that I use to work for few years back. He said that he has a job starting mid July and that it will be a 60 hour work week. Just what I need to help get back some of my savings.:nanawrench:

Maybe now that the press has FINALLY quit the "nothing but gloom and doom' reporting on the economy,, maybe, just MAYBE things will start that long slow recovery. I'm sure not going to get into a political debate here about why, because I don't think 'politics' had a dam thing to do with it. But I'm hearing more and more people going back to work. The design sector always get's busy before construction and we have been picking up expotentially every month since February. It's a welcomed change from sitting around worried sick about loosing everything we all have worked so hard for! SO I too sound out a hearty CONGRATS. If your going back to work in Southern California,, the rest of the country (*save Mich and the auto industry) can't be too far behind.
anyone else hearing positive reports on housing prices and jobs?

Good news is always good! Congratulations. I work in a cement plant, it has been slow but holding, we have a stadium coming up and possibly a tunnel connecting the port to the city, housing is still down. We are expecting things to pick up towards the later part of 09. Those 60hr weeks should pick you up fairly quick, good luck.
