I'm about to replace my old Holly 650 CFM on my 69 ELKY 350 with a 750 CFM Speed Demon. I wondered if anybody could tell me if I mount it on my existing Eldbrock Performer Intake Manifold will I have any problems. A friend says that I should replace the manifold with a Edlbrock Performer RPM Airgap but I'm afraid if I do that will mean I need a new hood like a 2" Cowl for clearance as well. Does anybody have this setup? If so what manifold and hood do you have?

the performer has holes to mount just about any 4 barrel.

Thanks Tommy. I feeel better that the manifold will accept my new carb. I sent a e-mail to the Eldebrock tec rep and asked questions about the RPM AND Airgap and hope to get more insite for the best conversion.

For information
The Tech Rep at Edelbrock responded back with the ok on installing the 750 Speed Demon on a Performer Intake manifold. :-P
He said that it would perform really well and recomended a switch to a Performer RPM or Airgap manifold only if I were to change the heads to aluminmum with 10:1 compression and a higher torque converter than my B&M 2400.

Super Chevy's Project Danger Mouse last month was producing 500 Hp with a Deamon 650 on top of Victor heads and intake. For a 650 CFM that is truly exceptional. 10.1:1 Comp and a pretty nice SR cam from Comp. It looked like a decent enough set up that it could be possible for anyone to do what they did. the cam was advanced by only 1 degree.
Mine suggests 4 degrees but that is too much I'll be taking mine back to 2 degrees or 108 insted of 106.
My point was the Carb they used was a 650 CFM electric choke.

I'm running on my ZZ4 aluminmum heads a smaller 625 Road Demon with the airgap...I LOVE it! I could step up to the speed Demon 750 but I use my ELCO for my daily driver and with the gas prices here in Northern California at almost $2.30 a gal for 91 my smooth running and great response 625 is perfect!
Your going to love that Demon! A great carb! Oh yes and they are the best looking carbs on the market too. Your going to hate to cover it up with a air cleaner!

We will see how it performs. I'm running a comp 270H cam in my 350 now and it's set advanced at 12 degrees. I have a 10 bolt posi 355 rear end. I sill no dought have to change the timing with the 750 demon and possibly tweek it to adjust my tranny kickdown point. 8)

Tommy, I have a 350 turbo tranny.
By the way, I sent 4 hours working on the 69 yesterday and finally fix the no spark problem. :-P I replaced the plug wires with Taylor spiral installed a new dist.cap an roter and replaced the ignition module and install a balist resistor. She fired up first crank! re-set the timing so now I'm ready to install the carb new week. Happy times. The problem was that I voltage spiked the ignition module by removing and reinstalling the battery cable when it was in storage and found out that the previous owner had a red + cable attached to the negitive post and a black cable to the + post but the black was the positive feed. Well I was just looking at colors of the cables and not the +- marks on the battery and the positive stde was loosely attached so when I mistakenly removed the negitive thinking it was the postive is sparked and sent a spike through the ignition module. Live ans learn I guess.
