Hello all,
I'm not sure where to post this, but has anyone here "upgraded" their older style cast iron brake master cylinder with a later model aluminum master cylinder? Is it possible without taking out a second mortgage?
It seems to me that the aluminum with plastic reservoir type must have a longer life than a cast iron model as I've never seen anyone have to replace their aluminum model. It also seems to have a cleaner look to me (FWIW).

I've seen guys using them from 3rd gen Camaros/Firebirds (1982-1992). If I were to do this swap I would make sure that the replacement master had the same size bore diameter as the one currently on the vehicle. Also, keep in mind that these master cylinders often times don't come with the plastic reservoir from the rebuilders and will most likely have metric line fittings.

The wrong diameter bore will very much affect brakeing capabilities and pedal feel.

My 78 has the newer style & I don't see why one would not work on your 77.
