I saw an ad for a 74-81 Camaro or Trans Am , 10 bolt With posi and disk brakes. I have limited info on this rear end. Is it a straight swap for the 73 Elky rear end? It would be nice to get the posi and disc on the back but don't know if it will fit. Thanks for any info.

The whole rearend will not. Camaros & TAs have leaf springs that mounts completely different . The insides are 8 1/2 which should fit in your housing. Unless you have a friend that can set it up, You will have to take it to a shop that can do it.

The disc brakes will swap right over to your rear end. You will however had to come up with some sort of emergancy break cable idea. Lot's of guys go with Lokar custom cables like the street rod guys have been using for years. It costs a little more, but finished it works very nicely.

Thanks for the info on the Camaro rear end. I still have a lot to learn about what fits and what doesn't. I appreciate the replies from those who have been there and done that. JJ73

Ok now I want to ask another f body question. Would a third gen rear end fit into a 5thgen g body? They both use coil springs but would it mount up at all?

No, it will not bolt in, however the internal parts will work with the exception of the axles, and if it's got disc brakes they can be adapted to fit the rear of your Elky.

Has everyone done this rear disk swap with a f body. I would love to see a write up on it.
