I need to get a pair of fenders for my 1968. I was wondering if any one has bought new fenders, and could tell me if there is a difference from the reproductions and GM fenders? Should I spend the money for the GM or not?

If you can get the real deal, go for it even though they're more expensive. Most repros are made of lesser grade and guage steel and don't fit like real GM.

Okay, from what I see; I check www.luttyschevy.com and came up with repro fenders costing $319.00.

I looked over at www.partszoneonline.com and found GM fenders for $366.91 each, the GM list for these is $532.81!!! I would go GM from www.partszoneonline.com for sure

The part numbers are (RH)3924118, (LH)3924117

The dealership associated with partszoneonline.com is P&G Chevrolet/Olds. They are located in Slovan, Pa which is very close to where I grew up. The parts manager, Bill, is very knowledgable and enjoys helping us enthusiests. They charge shipping based on what it will actually cost, not a flat rate likes some websites. The best thing is that you can call them and talk to him at the parts department to order them, it doesn't have to be done over the 'net. If you talk to them, let 'em know that Bryan Shook recommended you, I deal with them all the time since they are local to me(I consider myself lucky to not have to pay the crazy prices that almost all other GM dealerships charge).

On a side note, if you are considering repro's, choose the Goodmarks, they have the best overall reputation as far as repros go.
