Anyone else been catching the new Levi's TV commercial showing the custom and chopped top 70 El Camino? If is were not for the '70 SS hood it is hard to tell what the heck this thing is! I know we have posted a still shot of this heavy customed out Elky before but I have never seen the ad run until now. I guess they are running the ad again.

You might be right it is hard to tell....I'm just saying it's a Chevy from the '70 SS hood that is used and by the over all size of the car looks like it's an Elky. I hope it is a Ford because the dam thing really is Ulgy and I would hope they would waste a Ford not an Elky for a pair of Jeans!

This commercial was a topic on another forum. Supposedly one of the forum members e-mailed the makers of the commercial and they said it's a modified El Camino.
Here is the thread:

I've watched it several times and I can't figure out what it is.

Looks like a 1971-72 El Camino, look at the front marker lights. Hate to think that was a nice el camino at one time. But what killed me was that 1970 el camino they wrecked on Monster Garage. I would kill to have black on black SS el camino, man what fools!

Wow, that's a great commercial and the El Camino is far out. Whether you like it or not you have to admit that whoever created that car has a great imagination and from what I can see he also has a good skill level.
If anyone studies the history of car design in America you will see a similarity among all the great designers--they will take an idea and stretch it to the extreme and then back off until it is a design that is commercially acceptable (except in the case of the 1959 Chevy, maybe they didn't back off enough). If we don't push the envelope all cars would still look like 1950 Fords, UGH. And there is no formula for creating a design that everyone likes--one persons idea of perfection is anothers pig. I actually have run across people who don 't like El Caminos!!
Viva la difference!
