My Elky came with a small diameter air cleaner on my 350 w/Edelbrok carb and manifold, should I switch to a larger diameter air cleaner? Or leave as is? Car runs great as is.
Thanks

If it runs good for you & you like it the way it is leave it the gain in performance wont be noticed mpg maybe if you get a K&N xstrean filter.
If you are racing another story you need as much air as the engine can take in turbulence free.

If it ain't broke take a hammer to it:poke:, then you'll need a bigger one!

Thanks! It just seems the Elky isn't as fast as my '70 Skylark 350 2bbl?

how small is small a 10"x 2" is minimun recomended smaller than that cuts down airflow causing carb to act like a smaller cfm carb and cause it to run richer ck edlebrok site for tech info on this

It might run as good but your gearing is probably different so the response is different. But if your talking about just how the engine is running and not how its rolling when your driving down the road then you might wanna grab yourself a bigger air cleaner. The only difference you'll feel when you have a four barrel compared to a two barrel is when your secondarys kick in. I don't believe there on until your up to a certain rpm.

If you want to change air cleaners I would go with a Spectre. I've found they're just as good for half the price though your gain will still be minimal. If you want to get some real gains get it tuned by a shop with people who know how to (NOT Big 10, Tuffy's, Pep Boys, Etc...)
