OK, just got the air-lift bags and went to install them. They have these heat shieds you bend and clamp on your exhaust pipes if you have <2" clr. Does anyone know how critical that is? My exhaust (custom dual) runs over the rear axle housing and is less than 1/2" from the outside of the coils. Ugh :dontknow:

around bends in the exhausts (like axle hoops)temp builds up you need the shields to keep for burning a soft spot in the bags and then they pop just redo the exhaust out the side in front of the rear wheel

I ran into the same thing on mine. I could not decide how the peice that came with the bags were going to help. I used some header wrap for about 18 inches to get by mine. Haven't had any issues with that.

Never thought of using header wrap. But I don't see a reason why that wouldn't work. Thanks.....I think I'll do that when I go to put air lift bags in my Elky. Just don't know when I'll get to that. Many other things I want to do before that. The fun just never ends. :nanawrench:

Id be careful for sure though cus you def dont want your bags popping, happened to my friend while he was on the freeway and he had to add metal to his back end it wasnt pretty. But his droped to the floor when it was all the way down so that was probly his first mistake lol.

Header wrap -- I'll have to give that a try on mine.

:You_Rock:Excellent idea on the header wrap .... actually embarrassing that I didn't think of it. I quit using the wrap on headers as I have had issues with heat transfer back to the header flange. On the flip side though as a result I should have plenty of it stashed away ... somehwere .... ugh ..... now what box was that stuff in????:texas:
