FIRST ELKY 4 ME 07-22-2009, 05:10 PM Driving along today, the choke light came on and the amp gauge dropped to 8 volts, then the light went out and the gauge went back to 13 volts. No change in how the car ran. I have a 350 btw. Any ideas? The alternator checks out perfect, battery a little low from sitting before I bought the car. Thanks ChinChan 08-01-2009, 12:26 PM sounds like a huge power draw somewhere like 2 wires have slighty rubbed through, you said the engine still ran right? you didnt hear any audible change from the engine when this occurred? greywolf 08-01-2009, 05:44 PM My car did something similar--'84 with the gage package. The culprit turned out to be a little crud/corrosion on the connector plug to the back of the gage panel. Contact cleaner from Radio Shack cleaned them up and no problem since.
