In my GMC I've got 455 cubic inches producing in excess of 350horsepower and 500ft-lbs of torque... this is then all run through dual 3" pipes to two flowmaster 2-chamber 40 series mufflers turned down at the rear axle. :D

Oh wait, were you talking about stereo's that play stuff from tapes, CD's, or radio? Well, in that case, I got nothing, no head unit, no speakers, not even wiring for what should be there.

Once I have the rest of my GMC built, then I will add a stereo. This will consist of Sony Xplod head unit, CD changer, 6x9's behind the seat, 6.5"s in each door. And that would be all I need for mine.

Where have you guys located speakers without fabricating stuff?

I was considering just 2 in the stock 4 1/2 speaker slot in the front.(new speakers)

Then making a custom box with 2 6X9's for behiend the seat storage compartment thingy.

anybody else done this and have pictures etc?

I havent been able to complete my stereo setup quite yet. I had a sub box custom made to fit the stash spot. In that there is two places where i can mount my 5" rockford fostgate speakers. Also there is another spot where i can mount my 10" rockford fostgate sub. Then i have rockford fostgate speakers in the front but the asses (mags) are too big to fit in there. Then i have a sony head unit and the best rockford fostgate amp i could find (within my price range-the punch 801 or something i believe). Now the tricky part which i suck a lot at... getting it all hooked up and wiring all the stuff. But then again, thats all part of the fun :-P

EDIT: Change all of those fostgates to a fosgate because i suck at spelling.

i have a $27 audiovox cassette/am/fm i got from k-mart,stock 3.5" dash speakers, and a $20 speaker box from wal-mart with two 6" (i think) speakers and i shoved the speaker box where the spare tire used to live (in the smugglers trunk). yeah its cheap but as long as sound comes out i'm happy. i think i'm the only kid around here without a "system" in my car.

It's the stock am/fm cassette with side dash speakers!! 8)

Nothing like push button presets and an 80's mix tape for my 81....

I think I'll keep it :P .

Right now i've just got a Pioneer CD player,a couple 6X9 and a truck box with 2 10s hooked through a lit'l Hi Fonics....but i'm eyeing the smuggler's compartment thinking about the set of Polk MMs and 3 JL12W6s sitting in the closet with a Zeus. I think they'll fit nicely...

Just finished installing a Kenwood KDC-315S head unit in the dash, I didn't butcher the dash, a previous owner did that dirty deed. Fabricated a plate to hold the unit and clean up the dash area. The area behind the seats was boxed in and holds a pair of Pioneer 6" coaxials near the bottom and 2 small midranges across the top of each side, for a total of six speakers. That does it for me, at 45 watts X 4 is plenty of power in the cab. It's good to have tunes back in the ride for cruising. Looking into the 6 CD changer to go with this set-up.
