How hard is it to pull the full dash on the Elk?
I have pulled one '89 Mustang dash, and it was a weekend job to do the heater core!
Any pointers for the Elk?

The first time... Moderatly difficult. 2nd time is pretty easy 3rd time is piece of cake.
4 screws on the the defroster vents.
3 (if I remember correctly) under the dash one on either side and on close to the steering colum.
Remove the glove box
Take the cluster out and release the steering colum (2 bolts) and I think there are two behind the cluster in the plastic.
Go with a Painless wiring harness if your replacing wireing. Its far better than a 20 year old harness from a junk yard and its better than a brand new GM harness. Its designed for today's electronics and power.
Just my thoughts.

I agree with ElkyPete about using the Painless wiring harness. I replaced the entire harness on a '67 Firebird and it wasn't nearly as bad a chore as I envisioned. It includes the fuse box with the blade-type fuses so it's not an original replacement, but it does include more circuits (i.e. for power windows, power locks, electric fan, electric fuel pump, etc.) than the original harness had so I can add on later if I wish.

Sounds like Pete's done this before!
Anyway, not at all as bad as pulling the dash on the 89 Mustang. I used to install a lot of A/C systems in those way back when and I wouldn't wish it on an enemy!
Welcome too!

thanks for all the replies, I will give Painless a call and see what they are about. I considered a junkyard, simply to get the ecm with the harness.
