Silver or chrome? Half inch is kinda wide I think. Where were you thinking of putting it?
Should be able to get some at a local auto paint supply.

Half inch is pretty very wide for a pin stripe. But I agree ^^^^ local auto paint supply.

Thats not a pinstripe, thats a racing stripe(imho)! I put a 1/16 on mine, got it painted on for $100. I found the guy on Craigslist and he did a great job. 1/2 may look good on your car tho, just depends on what you like.:texas:

I'm looking to pinstripe my Elco after the paint is completed. Not sure of the color yet, but will figure it out when the time comes. Why I really want is "silver leaf" as my car will be painted the brightest white that I could find. Should look nice with the rims and fender trim....or at least thats the thought in my head; P)~:nanawrench:

i was thinking a silver stripe in between the black and the orange. what size would work best to set off the looks of the car? i would really like to put a tape on for ease of application and cost. chrome would not look that good on my car a little bit to bright for it. :smileyb:

IMHO, an accredited pinstripe artist is the only way to go. That tape will always come off.....always. In Texas, there is Bill Pelton near San Antonio, Alton Gillespie is in Fort Worth & Steve Cox is in Abilene, just to name a few. Google Pinstripe Legends....These guys are brought in to work the World of Wheels & other auto shows all over the States. A lot of their stuff goes for Charity but you can talk to them about painting your stuff. They are the best of the best. Don't settle for less, make sure you find someone that uses One Shot paint and high end brushes like Mack. Slow is good, they charge by the job and not by the hour. Ask to see pictures of their work. Artists are a different breed of people, stay away from the braggers, they've never done anything. IMHO :dontknow:

John, If that's what you decide you want to do, (Silver Leaf), let me make a suggestion. Get it all set up PRIOR TO PAINTING THE CAR, with your Painter, as well as the Striper you plan to use. What needs to be done in the case of "LEAF" is it needs to go on the car after the final Color Coat is applied, BUT PRIOR to the Clear Coat being applied.
Leaf is a very thin film, NOT PAINT. If a Clear Coat is not applied over the top for protection, you will only loose it in just a matter of 6 or less car washings.
BUT ~~ You already knew this, I just commented on it for them that may think on doing the same.

Coyote has never given but the finest advice, I humbly second his suggestion... Do speak with your painters and stripers so that they can work together.

My wife has a little Sewing & Patch business. She sets up at Motorcycle Events selling Patches, sewing them on and repairing leather, sometimes she lets me sew. Every year in October, between shows, we end up in a little RV Park 5 miles north of the Mexican Border. Over a 10 day period, between Margaritas in Mexico, Alton Gillespie painted the rear door on our RV. His normal canvas is Hot Rods and Race Cars. This shows the talent of an accredited Pinstripe Artist. This is a $3000 job, not that I paid that, but that is what he would charge for that much work. Nothing can replace talent!

Wow, didn't know that you had to clear coat the silver leaf.....I guess know that you mention it, it only seems correct that this stuff "film" will just wash off after a series of car washes and I guess just everyday driving. Still looking for someone to do the leaf as Hawaii has the most outlandish markups on everything, just because you have to "ship it all here".....so I am told. :yell:

Thanks again for the info and suggestions. More than likely, based upon cost, may stick with the painted pinstripe vice the silver leafing.

John, Things I'm sure are allot different there than when I was there in the late 60's (Lived in Kailua, on Popola Road).
But what amazed me was the Price of Sugar. Thought that would be cheap since it's Grown there. Then I learned { It's grown there, shipped to the Main Land, processed, then Shipped back}. That's when I quit wondering about the price of stuff you couldn't grow, or catch.
