: How much for headliner replacement?

I was wondering what I could expect to pay to have my headliner removed and replaced with new one along with the window shades. There is a factory roof window so does that make it more costly? Do I have to get new window shades or can they remove the old covering? The headliner and roof shades are both moldy and need to go!

I guess that vary a lot due to your location and who you get to do the job. I had a guy quote me $600.00 to sew and install a headliner in my '60 Elky and now I see CARS Inc. has a headliner for my '66 for about $70.00. Can't be that hard to install one that's already made up.

5th gen headliners are fairly easy to replace as the material is glued to a styrofoam board...there is no sewing involved...I did my own...I wouldn't expect to pay more than $150 to have someone else do it with the material included in that price...shop around...or better yet do it yourself. The right material and a can of 3M spray adhesive and a little patience is all you need. I found the material on Ebay. A word on the styrofoam board...The boards crack where the sunvisors mount (this is normal) use duct tape on the reverse side of the board to reinforce it...once you remove the old material you'll need to clean off anything left stuck to the board with soap and water...do not use any solvents as this WILL melt the styrofoam. The biggest PITA is the removal and reinstallation of the board...but it isn't that major...just take your time and don't manhandle it. Doing it yourself would cost around $30...price of material and a can of 3M adhesive.

I got my 5th gen done for $60, but I delivered the board to the upholstery shop, and reinstalled it myself. Extra hands are helpful when reinstalling, as that board is cumbersome.
