I just purchased a 85 El Camino, it has a crate 350 in it, not sure about the tranny. My questions is, in beefing it up what would be the largest cam and carb recommended for this engine? Just street!

I would suggest not going over a 650 cfm carb for the street. I am pleased with my edelbrock performer carb. & street performer cam.

I agree with Tom, as a matter of fact you might want to consider the Edelbrock Performer package which includes intake, cam, and also the Performer heads, if you'd like to upgrade to a better set of heads. This will make a very noticeable difference in your 350, keeping it very streetable, and not breaking your bank account.

You know, I have been thinking alot getting those heads also. Besides the carb & cam, I also have a performer intake so that would complete the package. I have a street only engine.

Sure, there are better performing aluminum heads, but for the price, they are nice and street legal in all 50 states. Plus they come ready to bolt on right out of the box.

my 350 is 9.35:1 flattops with vortec heads(64cc), edelbrock performer RPM airgap, and a 650 double pumper..should be pretty mean for a streetable daily driver.

I have the performer RPM heads, Performer RPM Air Gap and the "Performer Carb :baa: " on my 76's 383. I'd suggest the Comp XE280 with that combo and a Demon 650 up to 355 Cid. You'll need to replace the factory pushrods with some that are +0.010 longer or I did to get the correct alignment I also went to a 1.6 Roller extruded aluminum rocker. I had no clearance issues with anything except the Cam Lobes. 383's are notorious for needing a smaller base circle cam. But if you have a 350 that wont be an issue.

You would probably be producing around 450 to 475 and over 500 Lb/ft of tq. (Flywheel Power). The Victor Heads from Edelbrock and the combination I just mentions with the Victor Intake is an easy 500 Hp. You will need to get a 2500 or so stall I'd suggest TCI for the converter don't get a B&M its a Piece of.....

Pete..do you find the XE280 streetable? I've got a XE274, RPM air gap and 750 cfm performer carb in my 355 sb and find it a handful with ~425 hp at the flywheel.
