: "Is it For Sale?"
donaldta 08-09-2009, 06:34 PM Ok guys, are you tired of the question "Is it For Sale?"! What's your favorite comeback?
'course I can be a gentlemen & a nice guy and simply answer "No, but thanks for asking!" But if I feel a little whitty or feel like messing w/ the guy, I might say..,
"Do you see a for sale sign in it?" or another personal favorite "Sure, I'll take 10 grand cash for it!" That one usually gets them to turn their head because they don't know to take me serious or not! :yell:

mgs72elky 08-10-2009, 04:46 AM I always say - Sure, if you have a fat enough wallet. Then tell the truth, that it's going to the Granddaughters......
BigAl 327 08-10-2009, 06:31 AM I have not been asked yet! I wonder why?
awest 08-10-2009, 06:44 AM Everything I have is for sale.
ElCamino 10k, today and today ONLY!
Marv D 08-10-2009, 07:32 AM Ya know the "is it for sale" is an annoyance for sure. But the one that get's me is
I used to have one just like it
I get that even with my 66 pickup. No one EVER had one 'just like that'.... But I bet I've heard it a thousand times. Now that the Camino is out in the public eye,, I'm getting the same comment.
It drives me NUTZ!!
Oh I Had one just like it,, except it was a different color, and was a stock motor, with different seats, and didn't have those big tires and wheels, and was pretty much an old used up stock POS except I had a custom gearshift knob, and I cut the dash up to put a Craig 8 track in it.
But it was "JUST LIKE IT"
Mama Mayhem 08-10-2009, 08:12 AM :)

This is what i get usually :
Is it for sell? No.
You got a 383 in it? No.
What year is it? 2009 :)
Tuggy24g 08-10-2009, 08:58 AM I only had it once when I was working on my El Camino. She was outside with no engine in it. Then someone walked over to my house and asked me if I would seller her for 7500 with no motor on it. I said no thanks she is not for sale.
Most of the time no one asks me the question
72hotrod 08-10-2009, 09:12 AM All the time, and if they don't, they tel stories about how their uncles cousins nephew had one back in the day and all that jazz.
I actually get a kick out of it. maybe because mine is half gray primer half black primer right now and people want to buy it.
Matt
Magus 08-10-2009, 09:21 AM I was having a yard sale awhile back. Well... my wife was having a yard sale, I was at work and I had several offers on the camino. Someone offered 500 LOL, someone offerd 3k:smile2:, then someone else offered like 8 grand:screwy:.

skinyfisher 08-10-2009, 02:23 PM Answer, is more than its worth to anyone but me! or NO, I have 3 sons with guns!
The other one is always I had one just like this in the 60's BUT it was a different color, different seats, was a six cyl, and hub caps, and the trim was a little different. OH YA it was a Ranchro but there the same right!
FIRST ELKY 4 ME 08-10-2009, 03:08 PM I get it with my Buick all the time telling me how nice my Chevelle/Cutlass/GTO is and how they had one just like it. My rear window says, in small print, "Thanks, but it's a Buick"
When they offer me $XXXXX I usually say "I already have $XXXXX"
mino87 08-10-2009, 03:09 PM i usually say no or give the outrages figure but then they ask my so much and i tell them you cant buy one like mine (or replace my first car)
i also like it when they say '' man i don't really El Camino's but i like that one''
 I'd burn it to the ground before I'd let someone else have it!
dbrotherwood 08-10-2009, 05:46 PM I usually say sure it's for sale. I'll take $2000.00 for it. They like that until I tell the to choose which lugnut they want.
NavyMan 08-10-2009, 06:27 PM I usually say "yes"...and they always come back "how much"...
And of course I always say>>>
"If you have to ask, you can't afford it" !
NavyMan
67elkybryan 08-10-2009, 07:23 PM Back when mine was still in primer, I had someone come by one day and offer to haul mine to the crusher for only $100. Told him no. He than came down to $50.
Where the hell was that guy when I sent the remainder of my parts elky off to be crushed. Scrappers never seem to be around when you need them. :dontknow:
SeventyEightDragDreams 08-12-2009, 07:22 AM Well, being a girl (18 year old college student) with an El Camino, I tend to draw a lot of confused stares when I drive my car.
I was at the Super Chevy Show in Norwalk, OH a while back and I wasn't even showing my Elky this time around. I went out to the parking lot to grab something out of the car and a group of middle aged men and their sons that were entering the park came up and asked me about it.
"Do you know what year it is?"
Yes, It's a '78.
"You wouldn't happen to know what's under the hood, would you?"
Yes, I would. 350, 4-Barrel spread carb., RV Cams, dual exhaust.
"Wow, your Daddy must've put a lot of work into this car."
Well, actually I've done most of it, seeing as it's my car. I had help replacing the center link and dropping the gas tank, but that's about it.
*blank stare*
So, usually when people ask me if it's for sale, they ask me if my Dad's thinking about selling it.
My usual reply:
I don't know why he would, seeing as it's my car.
Marv D 08-12-2009, 11:21 AM ^^^^^^^
wish I was 18 again,, think I would have just found my future wife!!! ;)
donaldta 08-12-2009, 05:23 PM Correction SeventyEightDragDreams.., "I don't know why he would, seeing as it's my Truck!" ;)
I just read through all your replies, too funny & some great one liners! Thanks guys!
