Please refer to this acronyms and abbreviations... it always helps newbies like me.First off let me welcome you to ECC...now, I'm not trying to bust your chops, but why, as your very first post would you ask this, instead of introducing yourself and telling us a little bit about you and your Elky? You have to understand that not every newb here knows what these mean...and these may help you and others, but don't assume it helps all newbs. Some of our newer members, I'm sure, have no idea what some of these are...and I have to admit, that even I don't know what some of them are...like AMG FIA IVTEC...nor do I care. Using some of these is fine when guys are talking to each other and know what they're talking about...but some of the "newbies" are just learning, this may be their very first car, and they may not even have their first tool set yet...don't assume that "it always helps newbies" we're not all ASE certified mechs working for Mecedes Benz Racing (AMG) at the World Rally Championship (WRC) under the watchful eyes of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA)...or whatever I just said...now I'm confused! Keep an open mind when "newbies" ask something that you may think is basic...using acronyms may only confuse them also.

If you were EVER in the military you got sick of all the acronyms. PLEASE, i'm beggin ya, keep it simple and learn to correctly spell out all of the words. If you use only acronyms then we have to go back and print out the list at the beginning of this thread. So please. K.I.S.S. before we get the S.N.A.F.U!!!

I hope for your sake it's at least smaller than a gerbil...One of the cattle...not sure if it broke through the fence during the storm we had the other night. On the other hand I'd just like to say too much red meat is not good for the colon.

I keep tryin to read that list in the start of this thread, but every time I do, about 1/3 of the way thru it I get this killer headache.

As far as I can tell tho, I don't have any of that on my non-stock 83 elco, so what would be the point of knowing it. I don't even think I have any of that on my 99 Maxima. Is one of those that thing that parks your car by itself, or tells you where to go? I park my own car and am single, cause I don't need someone tellin me where to go! :smileyb:

Of course, some of you prolly will now.

P.S. How did D D Donny get left out of the hamster thread? If I remember right, he's into rear ends. :wow:

Got out of the military, partially because of the mass use of acronyms. I'm and O.F. (old fa*t). Have to work on the KISS prinicipal. Life is too short.

I've been mulling this over all day and I think you got slammed pretty hard on your first post. Don't let it keep you from posting again, it's a free Country and a free site. Having said that, I recognize that replies are FOS (that's Freedom of Speech) and I'm all for it. So, what I'm saying is, post what you want. If it isn't what we want to read we can click to the next thread. Personally I found the acronyms interesting and some where humorus, RTFM is something I don't do till it's too late! Oh, by the way, welcome to the site!!!

Folks, don't get too bent out of shape over his allegedly poor treatment. He was welcomed warmly after being taken to task, but this post was made a year and a half ago, and he hasn't chosen to come back since then...........

And I just realized - Is Botomgun another one of the old school guys who has pretty much quit posting?...............Ken

Welcome to you an all others , but lose the list and let your mind work on writing, except for obvious ones, very few are used here. This site is not a texting contest  just plain BS.

This guy is NOT A NEWBY! His post was made over 1 1/2 years ago. We can give up on continuing to welcome him! His last activity was only a few days after he made the aforetakentotaskfor introduction. He ain't coming back! (But that's just my opinion - I could be wrong!).............Ken

I caught your satire the first time I read it, Larry. I was surprised that it slipped by others, who jumped right in and started welcoming him to the site. That's one of the great things about this Forum - the members are more than ready to welcome anyone, without worrying about any preconceived notions or political ideology. And that's hard to find anymore.............Ken
