: Battery choices!!!!!!!! AAAA!!!!!!!
pinstripebob 02-23-2004, 07:29 AM I don't know if I should get the DuraLast bat. for $75, or the Optima 6-pack for $110. The Optima is dry-cell, and is 15 times vibration resistant. But the DuraLast has 10 more hot cranking amps. I'm also slapping a 383 in my Elky. And then I might get a sound system. Make it nice and hidden, and not cut anything. What should I buy?!?!
RedElky 02-23-2004, 07:32 AM the optima is worth the money. Excellent reliability.
pinstripebob 02-23-2004, 07:34 AM Ya, it seems like it. But the warranty on it is only 3 years.
AnthonyGonsalves 02-23-2004, 07:37 AM Optima, it just sounds better
pinstripebob 02-23-2004, 07:39 AM They look better, too.
AnthonyGonsalves 02-23-2004, 07:41 AM Battries that look better?? What is it all chrome?
pinstripebob 02-23-2004, 07:45 AM It looks like a 6-pack of BEER!! I think we all (or most) of us will agree that it looks better than a plastic box.
AnthonyGonsalves 02-23-2004, 07:47 AM Guniess or Miller
camino81 02-23-2004, 07:51 AM no chrome, but you can get 'em with either a pretty red, yellow, or blue top.

They should come with a chrome top. To the patent office!

Id go with blue, patents suck.
Id go with blue. Blue tops are for marine use only...
Check with your local interstate battery store. They have reconditioned red & yellow tops for about half retail and they have a full warranty too!

That mean you cant get them? Illegal? So what if it is, still would look cool
pinstripebob 02-23-2004, 01:48 PM Next time I see one of these, interstate battery stores, I'll stop and check it out. Thanks.
gmc caballero 02-23-2004, 02:07 PM Personnally, I would invest in a hi torque mini starter to take care of the heat soak problem with a full size starter especially if your gonna run headers. You can put in a real good batt in but if the starter gets too hot it aint gonna start right. A good mini starter is not that expensive and the problems with heat soak are non-existent. Just my two cents.
pinstripebob 02-23-2004, 04:50 PM That sounds like the way to go. I think I'll just get a regular battery now, and if it goes out in warranty, I'll go grab myself a six-pack. Thanks.
