Ok I have one of these annoying lights that just decided to stay on and never go off! It's the Fasten Safety Belt Light. What is causing this problem? A bad wire some where? Maybe a Belt Sensor? The most easiest thing would be is just take out the bulb and be done with it. But being that I plan on taking out the cluster panel to do some upgrades from lights to gauges. I would like to to get some feedback on this Light Problem and see if I can fix that at the same time and make it work the way it should.

Thanks,

Phil

I just looked over the wiring diagram for your year, but it's hard to figure it out, the way its tied into other things, and it's hard to trace on my diagram. It's using a dark green wire for most of the circuit. I don't know how the belt arrangement works the light, but I would think the belt is where the problem is. There must be a contact or switch of some sort in the belt buckle latch.

That's a good point. I will check the seat belts. I do know that the retractor on the driver side doesn't work. The belt just hangs. Maybe there is a wire attached to the retractor somewhere? I will check it out.

probably lost the ground somewhere that when you buckle it up it completes the circuit check for broken wires bad connection at the wire on the belt on insides of the seat.

With the ignition switch in RUN, BULB TEST, or START, voltage is applied through the GAGES fuse to the Audio Alarm Module. With the LH front seatbelt no buckled, current flows through the Audio Alarm Module and the seatbelt switch to ground. The alarm sounds. Current flows through the fasten belts indicator to ground. The fasten belts indicator lights. The only switch is in the left hand drives side buckle. If the seat belt is connected this switch is in the open position therefore it is not grounded and no input into the alarm module so no alarm sound. The seatbelt light will still light up for 4 to 8 seconds but no alarm with the buckle connected.

LH door closed seatbelt unbuckled equals audio alarm and seatbelt light.
LH door closed seatbelt buckled equals NO audio alarm seatbelt light still lights for 4 to 8 seconds.
