According to my shop manual, normal is 160 psi for the 8.5:1 350, and 150 psi for 9.0:1 motor. These numbers are from the 71 service manual. Also make note of any cylinders that differ from the others by 10% or so.

Hope this helps.

Do you know the expected compression for a 229 c.i. (3.8L) V-6? It's a 1984 model. I tested and all 6 cylinders came in around 180 p.s.i. +/- 5 p.s.i.

I have a Hayne's repair manual and all it said was "100-150 p.s.i." for V-6 and V-8, which I can't believe is right.
