I'm assuming you are asking about the bolt pattern of the transmission to engine. If so, the answer is yes.

I think your talking about the inspection cover. If you use the same inspection cover that came with the transmission you are installing, you should have no problem.

Are you sure that the trans came out of an 85 Firebird? 85's had Chevy engines installed...mine does, it's a 305...older Pontiacs that had other than Chevy engines installed did have a different bolt pattern before they did away with them and used strictly Chevy engines. I am not sure what year GM switched to using Chevy engines in Pontiacs. Maybe that transmission you have is older than you think. 8O Anyone have any knowledge/ideas about this?

I was told it was a 85 firebird it has a 2.8 I looked at the top of the trans were it mates to the block and it apears stright across like the ones i've seen on s-10 blasers that will not bolt to my 350 or for that matter my 229 :-)

Here's the link for an adapter that will allow you to bolt a B.O.P. bolt pattern tranny to a chevy engine and vice versa. Jeg's Tranny/Engine Adapter (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=86598&prmenbr=361). Check it out and see if thats what you need.
